Beretta Modello 38/42 Sub-machine Gun
Beretta Model 38/42 Sub-machine Gun. Tubular steel construction receiver with a fluted barrel that has a double top cut compensator muzzle. The action top is marked MP."BERETTA".MOD.38/42-CAL 9. It has a single piece wood stock that has a finger groove to each side of the fore end and a sling bar inset into the left side of the butt. The steel butt plate has a small trap for a cleaning rod (missing). It has a double trigger mechanism for semi automatic and automatic fire. Missing the magazine.
The Modello 38/42 submachine gun was a cheaper version of the Modello 38A sub-machine gun and had a shorter barrel without fluted cover jacket. The weapon was primarily produced from sheet metal with a wooden stock. As well as being employed by Italian forces, many were used by German and Roumanian forces.
