History / Summary

The PPS43 (Pistolet-pulemet Sudayeva obrazets 1943g) was designed by Aleksei Sudayev to make maximum use of stamped steel constuction. To fabricate an individual weapon only required 2.7 machine hours and 6.2 kg of raw steel. It was considerably cheaper and lighter than its immediate predecessor the PPsh 41. The weapon fired a 7.62mm x 25mm round. The PPS43 was still being used by a number of third world countries and former communist regimes in the 1960s. This example was captured in Vietnam at the battle of Long Tan in 1966.
