Front seat, left to right: 419611 Pilot Officer (PO, later Flying Officer [FO]) Stanley Freeman Fisher Tomlinson, Mentone, Vic; 401765 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Watt Booth Castles, East Kew, Vic; 401058 FO (later Flt Lt) Douglas Grant Vallance, Williamstown, Vic (lost on operations over Borneo on 4 August 1945). Back seat, left to right: 125688 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt, later Warrant Officer [WO]) Jack William Pearson, Ivanhoe, Vic; 431566 Flt Sgt John Kelvin Hoare, Mount Albert, Vic (lost on operations over Borneo on 4 August 1945); 419541 WO (later FO) Jack Allan Schmidt, Carnegie, Vic; 03165 FO (later Flt Lt) Roy Duncan Taylor, Williamstown, Vic. Flt Lt Vallance and Flt Sgt Hoare were lost on operations when their aircraft (Kittyhawks A29-1214 and A29-1124) probably collided in cloud near Borneo on 4 August, 1945.
