Pattern 1839 musket
Description
Pattern 1839 smoothbore percussion musket. Lock marked crown over VR TOWER 1848. Stock (butt) marked arrow over BO (Board of Ordnance). Stock made by BOND and the weapon assembled by J Brown. Various proof marks to the barrel including the makers initials JG. Lower sling swivel missing. Stock rubbed back, some pitting to the lock plate and an age patina to the barrel.
