Arisaka Type 99 Sniper Rifle : Imperial Japanese Army
Description
Arisaka Type 99 Sniper Rifle. Bolt action receiver marked with a Chrysanthemum Japanese characters, the Nagoya Arsenal stamp and the serial number. This rifle is fitted with a 4X7 telescopic sight, serial number 17833, which is missing the rear screw on lens cover. The rifle has a brown leather sling.
History / Summary
This type of rifle was used against Australian forces in New Guinea and the surrounding islands. It is a development from the earlier Type 97snipe rifle, being shorter in length and with a larger calibre.
