Description

Tranter's Patent Second Model five shot percussion revolver. The top frame is engraved B Cogswell, 224 Strand, London. It has a left side loading lever and a double trigger marked Tranter Patent. The grips are one piece checkered wood. The revolever is contained in an oak case measuring 14.5x7x2.5 inches and has the retailers label in the lid of B Cogswell, Gun, Rifle and Pistol Manufacturer, 224 Strand, near Temple Bar, London and written in black ink the date July 1859. The case also contains a copper powder flask, bullet mould stamped 54, nipple wrench, screwdriver, steel cleaning rod, worm jag, cleaning jag, 20 lead conical projectiles, 12 lead ball projectiles and three tins of percussion caps, one marked with a green label Fredk Joyce London 100 No 8 and two stamped ELEY LONDON.
