Snider-Enfield Mk IV Artillery Carbine : New South Wales Artillery
Description
Snider-Enfield Artillery Carbine Mk IV. Lock marked Crown over VR and 1858 over ENFIELD. Mk III breech. The butt has the Enfield armoury roundel and the tang is stamped G 100. The Bayonet bar is fitted to the front sling swivel band and numbered 1. The Mk IV Artillery Carbine is an 1870's conversion from the Pattern 1853 Enfield rifle. The barrel length has been shortened to 22.5 inches and the stock cut down to within one inch of the muzzle. It is complete with all original parts.
