75 mm PaK 40 anti-tank gun
The Pak 40 was the standard anti-tank gun in the German army from 1941. The carriage has tubular split trails with a spade at the end of each trail. The wheels are stamped of light alloy and are fitted with solid rubber tyres. The shield has spaced armour consisting of two 4 millimeter armour plates spaced about 25 millimeters apart. The axle is protected to the front of the weapon by a hinged piece of armour. The monobloc barrel tube has a double baffle muzzle brake and the breechblock is of the horizontal semi-automatic sliding type. The breech block is inoperative. Matching numbers are located on the breech block. Sight bracket is attached. Manufacturers' proofs are present on the breech block. The weapon is heavily corroded, particularly around the sighting and elevation gear, breech, and in areas where water has been trapped.
