Pair of German civilian medallions : Sir Edward Grey
Two German medallions with an image, on the obverse, of a three headed winged monster with a dog's body and a serpent's tail in the centre in raised relief. Around the edge in raised lettering is 'DATUM EST EI OS LOQUENS MAGNA ET BLASPHEMIA QUI SIMILIS BESTIA' ('A mouth is given to him for speaking great things and blasphemies. Who is like the beast?'). Obverse is also stamped with designer's name 'EDMUND OTTO' and manufactuer's name 'SIRACH'. THe reverse of the medallion is impressed with 'SIR EDWARD.GREY' and a quill. Each medallion bears an impressed serial number on the edge 'DS66 87' and 'DS66 89'.
