Description
Papers connected with Captain (later Vice Admiral) Russell Edward Shalders and HMAS Darwin's service in the Gulf War. Consists of item (1) personal letters to his wife and to a friend (August to November 1990); item (2) official correspondence about his posting to HMAS Brisbane, service in the Gulf War and the ship's return to Australia, invitations including welcome home parades, Shalders' rough planning notes, signals and messages, personal and demi official letters to Shalders from Naval associates and members of parliament, poetry, daily orders, newsletters, invitations and correspondence collected by Mrs Shalders about the welfare of dependents and support offered to those at home.
