Imperial German Model 1889 Cavalry Sword
Description
Imperial German Model 1889 Cavalry sword. The hilt has a sheet steel guard with the heraldic eagle of Prussia as the cartouche badge. It has a brown bakelite grip having two rivets holding it to the tang. The blade is a single edge, pipe back with a double edge spear point. ALEX COPPEL SOLINGEN stamped on the left ricasso and the back edge has a crown over W over 15.
History / Summary
The type of sword was also used by the Brunswick, Oldenberg and Baden cavalry units.
