STEN Mk III Sub-machine Gun
Description
STEN Mk III Sub-machine Gun. Rolled steel tube receiver and barrel jacket with a welded top rib. Pressed steel trigger box and mechanism. It has a steel rod butt that has a flat shoulder plate drilled with two holes and a plate steel pistol grip. Marked on the magazine port STEN MC MKIII and the serial number. Painted black overall. Front post (repaired) and single rear aperture sights. Missing a magazine.
History / Summary
The Mark III STEN was produced in large numbers both in the UK and Canada from 1943 using more sheet metal pressings and welded seams. It was a simplified version of the Mark II with a fixed barrel and the body extended over the whole length of the barrel. The MC denotes the original nomenclature of Machine Carbine.
