Lee-Enfield No 4 Mk I Rifle. Receiver marked R.O.F.M. No4. Mk1.1941. One of the very first No 4 Mk 1 rifles produced. 2 groove barrel. Painted metal work, rather than blued. War expediency beech. Cheap 300 and 600 yd backsight. Long Branch Canadian bolt head. Singer bolt. Old No III style round bolt.
History / Summary
The Lee Enfield No 4 rifle became the standard British Army weapon during the Second World War. This is an exceptionally rare 'Maltby' very early example of the type. The weapon shows evidence of parts sourced from a number of different manufacturers.
