Description
SMLE No I Mk I Rifle. Receiver stamped Crown ER over LSA Co 1904 Sht LE I and the breech EY/2 over 134. The butt is stamped 4/1/ALH and EY/2/134. The butt disc is incorrect for this rifle and is marked NSW 2/01 C1817. The fore end has a bolt through the wood near the magazine. The rifle is wire bound reinforced on two places on the stock for rifle grenade launching.
History / Summary
This rifle has been modified to be used as a grenade launcher. The EY stands for Emergency Use Only and the butt markings indicate it was used by 1 Light Horse Regiment.
