Description

Korea. 25 December 1951. Mr Josiah Francis, the Australian Minister for the Army (second from left), looks on as unidentified members of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), open Christmas parcels purchased for them by the Australian Returned Soldiers and newspaper firms. The parcels, packed into wooden boxes in Japan by the Australian Army Canteens Service, contained stout, beer, tobacco, canned goods, sweets, writing material and other handy items. Identifiable products are Fantales, Ballarat Invalid Stout, Cadbury's Red Label Drinking Chocolate, Sweetacres Jaffas, Arnott's Nice Biscuits and Geisha Salmon.
