Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. 1968-08. Grey smoke billows up from the spot on the road where an armoured personnel carrier has run over a mine. The APC, of the Defence and Employment Platoon, Headquarters Company, 1st Australian Task Force (1 ATF) (Nui Dat) (D and E Platoon), attached to Task Force Headquarters at Nui Dat, was part of a convoy proceeding on operation north of Nui Dat to establish a Fire Support Base. During the journey they had three APC's damaged in eight days, by running over mines on a major road.
