Description

Collection relating to the Second World War service of QX60848 Private Arthur Trevor Jorgensen, 2/31st Australian Infantry Battalion, New Guinea and Borneo 1945.

Collection consists of eight letters written by Private Jorgensen to his mother. Three letters discuss Private Jorgensen's everyday life in New Guinea. The remaining five letters are either typed, dictated, or in Private Jorgensen's shaky handwriting and recount his being shot in the arm and side. The final letter discusses his return to Australia. Unfortunately, Jorgensen was killed on 18 September 1945 when the plane on which he was returning home was shot down.

A transcription of this collection is available.
