T.S.S Nestor : A.M.C. Reinforcements
Description
Photographic reproduction of T.S.S Nestor annotated with 'A.M.C Reinforcements' and signed by service personnel during their voyage to Egypt from Australia in 1916.
Nestor, launched in 1912, was a twin screw steamer produced by the British company Ocean SS Co Ltd. It was requisitioned by the Commonwealth to transport troops during the First World War as A.71. HMAT Nestor. It conducted six voyages from Australia, mainly carrying reinforcement units to England. The image on the card of Nestor was a stock image reproduced commercially.
