Original caption reads: G.O.C [General Officer Commanding] delivering farewell address. The GOC is likely Brigadier General Raymond Leane CMG DSO MC who is noted in the 12th Brigade unit diary as giving a farewell address on 25 March 1919 to members of the 45th, 46th and 48th Battalions who were due to leave Nalinnes, Belgium, en route for Australia. This photograph is from an album recording the wartime service of Lieutenant Harry Downes MC MM, 48th Battalion.
