Collection relating to the Vietnam War service of 3905024 Captain Robin Holroyd Parker, Headquarters, Australian Army Force Vietnam, Saigon, 1965-1968.

Wallet 1 of 1 - Consists of a typed eight-page memoir of Parker's service as Force Paymaster to the Australian Army in Vietnam from June 1965 to February 1966 and his prior and subsequent career as a civilian clerk, paymaster and administration officer to the army and Australian Defence Force. Parker describes his National Service with the Australian Army in the 1950s, his civilian career leading up to Vietnam, and his selection as the first Force Paymaster for the Australian Army in Vietnam. He writes of establishing the cash office in Saigon, his interactions and friendship with the local Vietnamese, of coming under fire in Bien Hoa, working with the United States forces, and his return to Australia after falling ill. Parker also writes of working as the army paymaster in HMAS Sydney (1944-1973) during a voyage to Vietnam in 1968, of his subsequent career in Australia, Singapore and the United States as a public servant, and a return trip to Vietnam in 2010.
