A note from 3144 Private Harry Field, 12th Battalion to the editor of the Sydney Morning Herald, [date unknown]. The note mentions an attached letter for perusal from a 'Splendid English Woman'. The attached letter is from Mary A Lewis to Mr Field, Melvin Hall, Golders Green, N.W. 4, 8 May 1918. In her letter Mary Lewis, a worker in the Woolwich [Royal] Arsenal, praises and thanks the men fighting the war. Also attached are envelopes; one from Mary Lewis to Pte Field and the other from Pte Field to the Sydney Morning Herald.
