Portrait of Sir John Latham GCMG in his office at the High Court of Australia. Sir John held the position of Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia for the period 1935-1952 and also served as Australian Minister to Japan during December 1940-1941. He had served as a Lieutenant Commander, Royal Australian Naval Reserve (RANR) in the period 1917-1920 and from 1922 until 1934 was a member of the Australian Parliament during which time he held several ministerial posts.
