A VIEW TO THE NORTHEAST FROM FIRE SUPPORT BASE CORAL AT THE TIME OF THE BATTLE OF CORAL. AT LOWER RIGHT IS THE NO. 5 GUN, A 105MM HOWITZER, OF 102 FIELD BATTERY, ROYAL AUSTRALIAN ARTILLERY, WHICH WAS COMMANDED BY SERGEANT ROBERTSON. BEHIND THIS GUN ARE THE EARTHWORKS THAT HAD BEEN BUILT TO PROTECT THE BATTERY'S NO. 6 GUN, COMMANDED BY SERGEANT MAX FRANKLIN. THIS GUN WAS OVERRUN AND BRIEFLY CAPTURED BY NORTH VIETNAMESE TROOPS DURING THE BATTLE. IN THE BACKGROUND, A PHANTOM JET BOMBER OF THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE IS ATTACKING AN ENEMY BUNKER SYSTEM. ONE OF THE BOMBS IT HAS DROPPED IS EXPLODING JUST ABOVE THE TREE LINE.
