RAF Station Bottesford, Leicester, England. 5 June, 1943. 404909 Flying Officer (later Flight Lieutenant [Flt Lt]) John McDowall Sullivan of Queensland (left) with 401083 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Basil Frederick Wilmot of Launceston Tasmania. Both servicemen were aircraft captains in No. 467 Squadron RAAF, the second Lancaster squadron to be formed in the United Kingdom. Flt Lt Sullivan was lost on operations over France on 15 August 1943, while Flt Sgt Wilmot was lost in operations over Germany on 11 June 1943.
