Description
Britain. c 1943. A T17E1 MkVI Staghound armoured car which was produced in the United States of America to a British specification. A total of 2844 were made and shipped to Britain and used by the British Army in all theatres. The standard T17E1 Staghound was a 4 x 4 car with a turret carrying a 37mm gun with a coaxially mounted .30 inch calibre machine gun and a .30 inch calibre machine gun in the hull fitted on an anti aircraft mount. A number of Staghounds were modified in Britain by taking out the 37 mm gun and substituting a 3 inch tank howitzer giving a close support capability. The Staghound had a top speed of fifty six miles per hour and road range of 450 miles.
