Description
Allied Intelligence Bureau personnel of the Services Reconnaisance Department on board MV Krait cleaning and checking weapons before their successful clandestine attack on Japanese shipping at Singapore in September and October 1943. Visible in the photograph are three Mark 1/42 Owen submachine guns. These and their slings appear to have been painted in a very dark colour, possibly black. Two of the Owen guns rest on cases for a Bren Gun Mk1.
