Records collected from media coverage of the 1993 controversy about the Fall of Singapore
Description
An artificial collection of press cuttings, mainly letters to the editor of national newspapers, unedited articles submitted to those papers by Dr Hank Nelson and Dr David Horner. They were all written in response to the controversy surrounding British allegations that the 1942 Fall of Singapore (surrender of Britain's Singapore base to the Japanese forces) was due to Australian actions. This was provoked by the release of Wavell's June 1942 report to Winston Churchill on the surrender. This report had been withheld for an additional twenty years.
