Three Australian servicemen outside Buckingham Palace after an investiture. Identified, left to right: 404536 Flight Sergeant Sydney Robert Douglas McGrory DFM, 460 Squadron RAAF (later of 25 Squadron RAF), of Brisbane, Qld; Warrant Officer W. R. Perkins BEM, Royal Navy, of Williamstown, Victoria; 404043 Flight Sergeant (later Flying Officer [FO]) John Maxwell Scott DFM, RAAF, of 148 Squadron RAF, of Taroom, Qld. FO Scott was lost on operations over Essen, Germany on 12 of December, 1944. He is buried in the Reichswald Forest Cemetery at Cleves, Germany.
