A series of improvised British-built armoured cars parade through the Shanghai International Settlement, the combined British and American concession in Shanghai. The cars are numbered in sequence. The clock tower of the Shanghai Racing Club can be seen in the background. The foreign concession operated its own police force, the Shanghai Municipal Police, and military force, the Shanghai Volunteer Corps.
