History / Summary
Awarded to Captain Kenneth Mackenzie Wray of the New South Wales Imperial Bushmen. Wray was born in County Donegal, Ireland, in 1854. He migrated to New South Wales in 1873 and in 1881 married Grace Edwards in Sydney. Wray lived at Goulburn, NSW and served with the NSW Mounted Rifles. During the Boer War Wray commanded 'C' Squadron of the NSW Imperial Bushmen and was awarded a Distinguished Service Order and a Mention in Despatches for his service. After the war Wray returned to Goulburn and worked as Sheriff's Officer, raising six children. He died in Sydney on 5 October 1927.
