Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of 1783 Private Herbert Spencer Keepence, 1 Battalion. Collection consists of four postcards sent by Pte Keepence to his family describing sea voyage, training in Egypt and service at Gallipoli. Also included is a letter written by 450 L/Cpl Robert John Mozzell to the family of Keepence, describing the mortal wounding of their son. Keepence died on 9 August 1915 from wounds received on 6 August during the fighting at Lone Pine on Gallipoli.
