MacDougall, Ian Lachlan, (Private, b.1901 - d.1945)
Description
Correspondence with sister `Nan', mentions family news, training camp in Puckapunyal, troopship, and sight-seeing in Egypt and Palestine. Includes lettercards sent while a prisoner of war in Germany, hardly mentions illness or hardship although Private MacDougal dies there in February 1945. Also includes list of POW parcels sent by sister, newspaper cuttings, information regarding grave site, and letters of sympathy written to sister. Cheerful nature of correspondence suggests a desire to spare family from the harsher realities of war.
