Description
A large group of soldiers from the 1st Australian Wireless Signal Squadron, Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force and the British 7th Cavalry Brigade, inspecting the ruins which include a lion standing over a prostrate man, roughly carved out of black basalt. The carving is said to represent Daniel in the lion's den but is thought to be more likely the triumph of Belteshazzar over the wandering Egyptian Army. The soldiers are visiting the ruins as part of a YMCA excursion.
