Collection of typed manuscripts titled 'No. 1 Mobile Works Squadron: An Oral History' and compiled by Mrs Coleen Bower, as well as original letters written by 40742 Corporal (Cpl) Francis George (Frank) Beale and 31316 Leading Aircraftman (LAC) Sydney Edward (also known as Bill) James whilst serving with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1941 and 1942. Comprises four spiral bound copies of the manuscript: two copies prepared by Mrs Bower in 1993 from the recollections of Frank Beale and Syd James, a second edition prepared in 2005 including additional recollections of 39405 Cpl Alfred Lionel (Fred) Pumpa, 31275 Leading Aircraftman Charles William (Charlie) Ponting, 30883 LAC Alwyn Boutcher and 12644 Flying Officer (FO) Fred Dietrich, and a final copy prepared in 2007 also including the recollection of A6194 (30549) Cpl Lewis Garth Batten. Also included with the original handwritten letters by Frank Beale and Syd (Bill) James, is a black and white photocopy of a poem titled 'Bill', believed to be about Australian Salvation Army Representative, Mr Bill Shaw.
