Cast aways on Emirau Island
Description
Emirau Island. Group portrait of some of the passengers and crew who had been cast away on Emirau Island in The Bismarck Archipelago after their merchant ships were sunk by German raiders Komet and Orion in the Pacific. They were 496 survivors who were rescued by the Australian steamer Nellore.
