Description
Large brown album containing 59 photographs taken or collected by 132453 Leading Aircraftman Leonard George Herford while serving in 23 Squadron RAAF. Herford, of Sydney, New South Wales, enlisted on 30 March 1943 and served with the Photographic Division in Australia and the Pacific region. Most photographs were taken and developed by Herford and have accompanying captions.
Photographs include images from the Victory March in Brisbane, 1944; enroute to Darwin through the Northern Territory; Darwin and surrounds, including 23 Squadron airstrip, dock area, bombing of Darwin. Also various photographs taken in Balikpapan, including concert party and entertainment shows.
