Description
Collection relating to Chaplain Walter Ernest Dexter, WW1. Diaries detail voyage to Egypt aboard first convoy, practical and spiritual assistance to troops on Gallipoli and later the Western Front. Dexter shared the front line experiences of the AIF, and his diaries discuss in detail numerous battles, with comments on the ordeals endured by the men, and the role of Army Chaplains. Added to the collection in 2015 were the typed transcripts of Dexter's diaries, as compiled by his daughter.
