Lee-Enfield No 4 Mk I* Rifle
Description
Lee-Enfield No 4 Mk 1* bolt action rifle. Receiver stamped No4 Mk I* LONG BRANCH 1943 and has a crack test stamp from the Lithgow Small Arms Factory with 7.62. The original .303 inch barrel has been replaced with a 7.62 mm barrel bade by Omark Ltd of South Australia. The military rear sight has also been removed and a serrated side plate attached to take a Central target sight. The rifle is complete and has a foresight cover and light green webbing sling.
History / Summary
The conversion of this rifle to 7.62mm was for trials purposes during the introduction of the Self Loading Rifle (SLR) in the 1960's.
