Bagot, Arthur Gerald (Captain, b.1888 - d.1979)
Collection relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant (later Captain) Arthur Gerald Bagot, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. The collection consists of a postcard by Bagot to his sister Diana, written accounts of Bagot's experiences aboard Motor Launch 283 during the actions of 11/12 April 1918, 22/23 April 1918 during the First Ostend Raid on Ostend harbour in Belgium and on 9/10 May 1918 during the Second Ostend Raid, secret instructions concerning an operation at Ostend/Zeebrugge in October 1918, and repatriation instructions received by Bagot in October 1919.
The record also includes a discharge certificate for Bagot's service as captain W73103 in the Volunteer Defence Corps from 1942 to 1945 during the Second World War, and a certificate concerning the award of the Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal to Bagot in 1977.
