Haley, Roy John (Warrant Officer Class 2, b.1910 - d.1988)
Collection relating to the Second World War service 31182 (VX81919) Warrant Officer Class 2 Roy John Haley, Z Special Unit, Borneo. The collection consists of a handwritten notebook containing a diary covering May to October 1945, with Malay words and phrases written in the back; plus two Services Reconnaissance Department [SRD] roll books titled ‘SRD’ and ‘SRD group A’ containing names of people in various sections for the period June-August 1945. Also include is a letter dated 4 September 1945 to Haley requesting supplies from Sergeant W J ‘Jack’ Butt VNZ 271450. Sergeant Butt was a New Zealander who served with Services Reconnaissance Department (SRD) Z Special Unit on Operations Stallion and Semut I; a list of stores dated 30 June 1945; and a receipt for material related to 12 Australian Division Reception Camp dated 3 February 1943.
