Diary relating to the First World War service of Colonel Rupert Major Downes, Head Quarters, Desert Mounted Corps. This diary written between 12 November and 29 December 1917 covers: his work as the Deputy Director of Medical Services of the Desert Mounted Corps, his frustration with the communication with headquarters; the movement to and setting up of a hospital in Khurbet Deiran; the effort he makes in getting supplies for the troops and his observations for the actions during the Battle of Jerusalem.
