Walker, Ivy Anne Constance (Civilian, b.1885 - d.?)
Collection relating to the Second World War experience of Ms Ivy Anne Constance Walker (née Salmon), civilian, Brisbane, Queensland, 1943-1948.
Collection consists of one bound autograph book containing signatures and addresses of Allied soldiers, sailors, airmen, and nurses that visited the Walkers during the Second World War. The signatures within the book were written between 1943 and 1945 by servicepersons from places including Hong Kong, America, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Australia. Also contained within this book are several diary entries from 1948 that describe Ms Walker’s social activities.
Ms Walker was the owner of a block of flats at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane, where American and Australian servicepersons were often billeted, and it is likely that this autograph book was compiled there. However, it is also possible that it was compiled at Point Lookout, Stradbroke Island, where Ms Walker lived between 1943 and 1945.
