Description

Collection relating to the Second World War service of QX18801 Bombardier Kevin Frederick Thomas Goldston, 162 Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Battery. Collection consists of a two page handwritten letter by Bombardier Goldston to his wife, dated 30 May 1943. In the letter Goldston expresses his frustration with the war and his envy of men with leave which he fears is 'a long way off' for him. 'My dear girl I'm feeling so fed up, but this job just has to be done by someone I guess.' He asks after his wife and two infant sons, and warmly conveys his love to them. The letter is signed 'always your loving husband Kev'. This was the last letter Bombardier Goldston wrote as he was accidentally killed at Buna, New Guinea the following day, 31 May 1943. Also included is the envelope in which the family kept the letter.
