Marks, Rodney Stuart (Warrant Officer, b.1921 - d.?)
Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of 422280 Warrant Officer Rodney Stuart Marks, No. 466 Squadron Squadron (RAAF), United Kingdom and Australia, 1943-1945.
Collection includes W/O Marks' RAAF 'Oberserver's Air Gunner's and W/T Operator's Flying Log Book' and records his service as an air gunner in various aircraft, but primarily Halifaxes as part of Bomber Command. Also included is a typescript account entitled 'God Help Me!' of W/O Marks' experience in a Halifax when two of four engines failed, causing an emergency landing in a field. All survived despite most of the aircraft's payload still being in situ.
