Studio Portrait of 153 Corporal Sydney Mackey, 1 Motor Transport Section. Portrait taken by Reginald Haines, 4 Southampton Row W.C. Image is inscribed: 'Love from your Syd. 1917'. Sent to Victoria Hayes in Sydney who he later married. In January 1919 he overstayed his leave in Paris and in April 1919 he was given a Field General Court Martial at which he was severely reprimanded and reduced to the rank of Motor Transport Driver. Mackey had trained as a coach builder in the family business prior to enlistment in the First World War.
