Hanimex Movimat 8mm movie camera: Australian War Memorial photographer
Hanimex Movimat clockwork movie camera with all metal body and a rotating turret lens housing. The right hand side of the camera contains a plastic covered film counter marked 'START' to 'FINISH'; a key-shaped winder for the clockwork mechanism; a lever for operating the shutter release; and a plastic rotating ASA setting.
On the left hand side is a nameplate bearing the name 'Hanimex - movimat'; a rotating catch for the camera's lid, giving access to the film and film gates; the spindles contain two empty Kodak film spools. The top of the camera houses a simple viewfinder.
The rotating turret lens housing contains three Pronon camera lenses; a small 1:18 f=13mm (serial number S80365); a larger 1:1.8 f=6.5mm (serial number W82840); and the largest 1:1.8 f=25mm (serial number T65090). Below the lenses is a plastic light meter.
The base of the camera bears a screwed tripod attachment. The original camera grip handle is missing. The base also bear the serial number 53986.
This camera is a rebranded Sankyo Movimat 8mm movie camera.
This camera was used in the late 1960s and early 1970s by Australian War Memorial photographers.
