[Sound recording] My old bushland home in Australia
Recording of the song titled 'My old bushland home in Australia', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Lyrics and music written by Neil McBeath, who was part of the Coo-ees Concert Party during the First World War. Produced by Chris Latham, with David Hidden as vocalist and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 23 August 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.
Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This song is gorgeous and is full of sentiment. It doesn't have a lot of material but it does get to you. If you were an Aussie in France and someone sang this song, you would be strongly affected. It has genuine sentiment in the lyrics.'
