[Sound recording] Don't forget there's someone in Australia
Recording of the song titled 'Don't forget there's someone in Australia', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Lyrics written by Alf J Lawrance with music composed by Harry Gifford. Produced by Chris Latham, with Christina Wilson as vocalist and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 13 July 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.
Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This song has more chromatics in it and would have sounded quite modern at the time that it was written. Syncopations and dramatic shifts are featured - it is a long way from jazz but contains ragtime elements. It is an up-to-date music hall hit written by people who do it all the time. The writers are very capable and knew what they were doing.'
