Description
Recording of the song titled 'Way down upon the Swannee River', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Music and lyrics written by Stephen Foster. Produced by Chris Latham, with singers Susannah Lawergren, Christina Wilson and David Hidden and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 23 December 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.
Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'This is an incredibly beautiful tune with a very beautiful chorus. It isn't a very complicated song but it is very effective. Being away from home - a nostalgic song. A modified set of lyrics were recorded for this song.'
