Description

Recording of the song titled, 'The Fair Land of Poland', created as part of the Music and the First World War project. Music and lyrics written by M W Balfe. Produced by Chris Latham, with Andrew Goodwin as vocalist (tenor), and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 12 February 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.

Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'The march is the verse which is fairly standard before it moves into a triplety feel and becomes very lyrical. It is quasi-Chopinish and is a melodramatic opera. It is very hard to sing with a 9 note range and could be regarded as art in a music hall setting.'
